Goals & Objectives

We consider education as the main tool for transformation and liberation of the human society. The goal of education was eloquently expressed by Pandit Nehru in his words An education institution stands for humanism, for tolerance, for reason, for adventure of ideas, for search of truth; it stands for the onward march of human race towards even higher objectives. We are trying to articulate these objectives in the effective working of the Institution. Education aims at bringing up intellectually well informed, morally upright, socially concerned, spiritually oriented and physically well built citizens. That is what Mar Thoma College intends. The college was started in 1981 by Mar Thoma church with the vision of having a temple of learning in the educationally backward area of Malabar. The Mar Thoma college is most ideally located in a hillock by the river basin of Chaliyar and Punnapuzha. The curricular and co- curricular activities are aimed at developing creativity, vocational skill and entreprenurship. Our mottto Let your Light shine promulgates love, peace, discipline, hard work and justice. In addition to the dissemination of knowledge, we aim at the all round development of personality and the preservation of human values and relations. For every successful career discipline is vitally needed. As a social being man can fulfill his role by respecting others. In the college life also this is a working principle. Rules and regulations of our college are not to curtail the freedom of the students but to help them in enjoying freedom. Knowledge is light and the power of darkness will not prevail against it. We may feel that we are not equal in many respects but the light of God is given to all equally. Let your Light Shine such that the light of God may shine through the students in the form of peace love and justice. To the Indian saints education aims at Tamasoma Jyothir Gamaya, Asatoma Sath Gamaya Mrithyoma Amritham Gamaya . Education seeks to lead people from darkness to power of light, to truth and to fullness of life.

Truth of silence is prayer,

The fruit of prayer is faith,

The fruit of faith is love,

The fruit of love is service

And the fruit of service is peace.
